Allure Salon and Spa

Allure Salon and Spa can be kind of difficult to find when you're driving down Pioneer Way but that's just the nature of Pioneer, if you're looking for a specific business it can be hard to find, but it's a beautiful street to stroll along when you have some time to do so.

To find the salon, you'll want to watch for their pink sign; I've included a picture of it below.

They're two doors west of Popsies and on the south side of the street.

While I was there one day to get my nails done, while waiting my turn I decided to take a few pictures of the inside of the Salon, as well as a few pictures of the outside buildings/stores to give you an idea of where Allure Salon and Spa is located.

A couple landmarks to help you locate Allure...

Right across the street from Allure is a business called "Purple Moon".

To the west of the "Purple Moon" is the entrance to a sort of mini-mall.

When you see the "Purple Moon" and the entrance to the mini-mall then look directly across the street and you'll see Allure.

The Allure Salon and Spa is all about pink, as you can see from the various pictures on this page.

Ultra feminine...

And there are several decorations that make reference to pink such as a sign that says "Pink isn't just a color, it's an attitude".

They've got pictures on the walls, classic and beautiful women such as this one with Audrey Hepburn (in another picture you'll see Marilyn Monroe).

They also display various outfits on a mannequin, these outfits being available from another store on Pioneer Way.

It's very comforting and welcoming inside.

There are two stations for cutting and styling hair, which keeps it cozy and intimate, quite a refreshing difference from those types of salons where there are people buzzing all over the place, listening to other people's conversations, and just making one uncomfortable all the way around.

Allure also does massages (something I plan on treating myself to some day soon), and manicures and pedicures.

The name of the woman who does my manicures is Brenda Simon.

As usual, Brenda did a great job on my nails; it always feels good to have pretty nails. Makes me feel more feminine.

This time she painted hearts on a couple of my nails on each hand. I tried to take a picture of them but I couldn't make the picture do justice to the work Brenda does.

She's very friendly and soon you'll feel like you're talking to a long-time friend.

She's also usually full of information in regards to the politics of the island, so she's a great place to go if you want to find out about this and that about Oak Harbor.

At Christmas she put this beautiful glitter polish on the tips of my nails, the white part of the nail. But once again, when I tried taking pictures of it the pictures just didn't come out well, they totally didn't do justice to her beautiful work.

She also does makeup, and she does makeup for weddings.

She asked our daughter to be a makeup model for her. Our daughter is beautiful and would be a terrific candidate for this, although she does love mugging for the camera.

Below is a picture of the hair washing station. Imagine leaning back there, getting your hair washed and your scalp massaged, gazing at the pictures of the flowers on the wall, if you can keep your eyes open (those scalp massages can be really relaxing!).

And to make your visit even more enjoyable, the salon serves complimentary coffee, tea, soda, beer and even wine!

A picture of the beverage station

The waiting area is a bay window in the front of the store where you can sit with your glass of wine (or your choice of beverage) and gaze out the window and people-watch while you wait for your turn at being pampered.

You can almost see the look of envy on the ladies faces as they walk by wishing it was them sitting there in your place!

Allure is having an exciting contest in February 2010. Ladies can go in and purchase a tube of lipstick, put the lipstick on and kiss a heart shaped piece of paper. Then that paper goes up in the window with all of the other entries.

When the time for entries is over, then the voting starts. Folks walking along the sidewalk can step in to the salon to place their vote as to which lipstick-kissed paper shows the best lips.

It'll be narrowed down to three finalists and then there will be a vote on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

I'm not sure what the prizes are but the contest sounds super fun!

Allure Salon and Spa is undergoing a beautiful transformation from what it was before they moved in; a bit of construction, painting walls, etc. Even though it's as welcoming as it is, you can see that it's going to be an even more beautiful place once it's complete.

Allure Salon and Spa is owned and operated by a couple ladies and you can see that they really enjoy working together:

Jessica Van Velkinburgh and Jenn Blanchard

Located at:

851 Southeast Pioneer Way
Oak Harbor, WA 98277-5789
(360) 682-2401

Everyone deserves to be pampered so be sure to visit them the next time you're in Oak Harbor!
